Colin McCready, 712th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintainer, inspects the wing of a C-17 Globemaster III during the Liberty Eagle Readiness Exercise at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, July 15, 2022. McCready is one of many maintainers from the 512th and 436th airlift wings who worked together during a simulated deployment to a forward operating base, located on Dover AFB, July 11-15, 2022. Alaska’s life line

Dave Torrance, Tech. Sgt., 210th Rescue Squadron Special Mission Aviator with the Alaska Air National Guard’s HH-60 Pave Hawks, mans the hoist cable system during a training mission above Homer, Alaska. The cable hoist system is used to lower pararescuemen to treat and rescue potential victims when the weather or terrain does not allow for the helicopter to land. In a combat theater the hoist system allows for an expedited rescue to minimize the vulnerability of the Pave Hawk and the crew members. U.S. Air Guard photo by Lt. Bernie Kale.
