Nine days after their Sept. 22 kidney transplant surgery, Master Sgt. Laura Perry, an Air Reserve Technician with the Air Force Reserve's 512th Civil Engineer Squadron at Dover Air Force Base, Del., and her fianc? and fellow squadron member Staff Sgt. Mark Shortt recover in their home in Dover, Del. In 2007, Sergeant Shortt was diagnosed with acute renal failure, meaning his kidneys lost the ability to filter waste products from the blood and regulate the body?s fluid balance.
