U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Colin McCready, 712th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintainer, inspects the wing of a C-17 Globemaster III during the Liberty Eagle Readiness Exercise at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, July 15, 2022. McCready is one of many maintainers from the 512th and 436th airlift wings who worked together during a simulated deployment to a forward operating base, located on Dover AFB, July 11-15, 2022. The purpose of this exercise was to validate both wings' ability to generate, employ and sustain airpower across the world in a contested and degraded operational environment. Remembering 9/11

"I received a phone call on the night of 9/11 from the Air Force who put me on orders to report to Andrews Air Force Base, Md. I was to provide chaplain assistant support to the chaplains who responded to the Pentagon attack. I worked at the family assistance center in Crystal City, Md., where families came to find out about their missing loved ones. I was an escort. The Sept. 11 attacks continue to impact my life today." - Master Sgt. Stephen Prasser, 512th Airlift Wing chaplain assistant "I was at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Within 24 hours, I was deployed to McGuire AFB, N.J., and then on to Dover AFB Mortuary Affairs. It changed my worldview, solidified my commitment to the Air Force and drew me closer to God and family." - Capt. Kimberly Willis, 512th Airlift Wing chaplain "I was a traditional reservist in maintenance at the time. Because of 9/11, I was activated due to the increase in ops tempo. I remember how everyone came together and there was such a sense of unity countrywide." - Tech. Sgt. Donavan Brown, 512th Airlift Wing chaplain assistant
