Last month, 512th Airlift Wing equipment custodian officers were recognized as the best small defense reutilization agency in the Air Force Reserve Command.

Although the DRA is small, this accomplishment is not. Accountability for more than $1.6 million of information technology equipment is accomplished by only two Liberty Wing members: Tech Sgt. Latoya Greene, the primary ECO, and Mr. Gregory Funk, both from the 512th Communications Squadron.

Each year a list is sent out to all the base ECO's within AFRC entailing how equipment-such as printers and computers-need to be used and/or replaced in a process referred to as a 'tech refresh." Each piece of equipment on the base must be filtered, accounted for and handled appropiately for the base to be eligible to acquire new equipment.

"If we're not 100% compliant this affects the entire wing," stated Greene. "We will not be eligible for new IT equipment at all."

Additionally, Dover AFB does not have a Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office to re-appropriate outdated equipment, so Greene and Funk must arrange the drop-offs as far away as Ft. Meade, Md.

Greene and Funk manage 38 accounts for the Liberty Wing and work with 76 IT technicians assigned with the task of in-processing, distributing and out-processing each piece of equipment.

"We couldn't do it without the IT techs, our mission is (attainable) because everyone does what they're supposed to do," Greene confirmed.

This hard work did not go unnoticed.

Tech. Sgt. Ashley Fears, MAJCOM equipment control officer, congratulated the 512th ECO's for their impact on the recent 3% drop in AFRC's overdue inventory listings; she said their timeliness is outstanding.

After the Liberty Wing was granted approval for their tech refresh, Greene said the process will start all over again.

"We're going to do the same thing this time around, we are going to work hard to get the job done right and get it done on time," said Greene.
