(Editor's note: This story references Col. Michael Grismer's email to active duty and reservists on Dover AFB congratulating Team Dover receiving the AMC 2014 General George C. Kenney Award.)

Teammates,

Over the past year, through collaborative efforts from both the 436th and 512th Airlift Wings, Team Dover successfully stood up the first ever C-5 AEF Retrograde Detachment and stage.  During this four month time period, 152 missions were flown airlifting 25.5 million pounds of cargo.  Through innovation, our Airmen were able to increase their cargo loads by more than 50K pounds per sortie, catapulting their efficiency level by 20% and saving the AF $3.7 million.  Ultimately, the lessons learned showcased the C-5M capabilities, enabling the team to set an AF single-load combat airlift record by airlifting 280,800K pounds of cargo, six mine-resistant ambush protected vehicles (MRAPS), and two pallets in one single mission!  This combined effort allowed troops to move out of and close Bastion AB 10-days ahead of schedule.

Although not every Airmen was by-named recognized through this award, over 120 Team Dover personnel contributed to the success and sustainment of this Detachment and the overall mission.  For all this hard work and innovation, Team Dover was selected as the recipient of the 2014 AMC General George C. Kenney Award, which recognizes the year's most notable lessons learned and contribution to the AF mission.  This is a great Team Dover win...please join me in a congratulating our teammates from the 512 AMXS, 512 MXS, 436 AMXS, 709 AS, 436 OSS, and 9 AS on their award selection.  Congratulations as you all continue to Deliver Excellence!

Thanks,

Griz
