CINC IEA inspection begins

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --  "We will, we will ... rock you!" the classic by Queen resonated throughout the entire theater, which was overflowing with Team Dover Airmen, whose collective excitement and rumbles of 'whoops and hollers' raised the roof at the Base Theater early Monday morning.

The excitement only stopped for a brief moment when the Air Force Commander in Chief's Installation Excellence Selection Board entered the theater and all in attendance snapped to attention. Still, as quickly as they assumed attention, the chants and clapping continued once they received the 'at ease' command.

The resounding excitement started before 6:30 a.m. today, as Team Dover officially kicked off the CINC IEA inspection, welcomed the inspection team of Maj. Gen. Mark Anderson, Col. Randall Falcon, Col. Michael Bartley and Col. David Allvin, and showed their spirit and desire to win the CINC IE 'Super Bowl.'

Though the inspection officially started with the rally of excitement today, the CINC IESB was welcomed by the entire U.S. Congressional Delegation from Delaware the evening before at an ice breaker at the Delaware Public Archives. Lt. Gov. John Carney, Jr., hosted the ice breaker, which was attended by U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper, Rep. Mike Castle and many other civic leaders and base officials who came to extend their welcome to the team.

The board is scheduled to inspect more than 125 workcenters today and Tuesday.

Dover AFB is one of two installations left in the running for best Air Force installation out of 117 world-wide Air Force wings. They are competing against Hill AFB, Utah, for the award.

The winning base will earn best in the Air Force bragging rights and $1 million for quality-of-life initiatives. The CINC IEA winner will be announced in the spring.

General Anderson, the CINC IESB chief, is mobilization assistant to the deputy chief of staff of logistics, installations and mission support at Air Force headquarters, Pentagon.

Colonel Falcon is the commander of the 482nd Fighter Wing, Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla.

Colonel Bartley commands the 99th Air Base Wing at Nellis FB, Nev.

Colonel Allvin commands the 97th Air Mobility Wing, Altus AFB, Okla.
