March 18 Air Force Reserve Command officials announced the 512th Memorial Affairs Squadron received the 2007 Air Force Readiness Program of the Year Award.

To be considered for this title, units must exhibit accomplishments in the areas of innovation, management, customer focus and satisfaction, and operational results.

The men and women of the 512th MAS met a year, riddled with challenges, head-on, said Senior Master Sgt. Juan Hernandez, 512th MAS superintendent

These challenges included relentless efforts to balance the installation's lodging requirements throughout Delaware.

Also, the unit deployed 87 personnel members, extending over 10 major functional areas at five worldwide locations and accrued 6,620 mandays of services support. This support exceeded AFRC's deployment expectations by 700 percent.

In addition, the 512th MAS served as lead trainers for AFRC's automated lodging reservation system. Unit members guided the ALRS implementation throughout four AFRC bases.

"I am continually impressed with and proud of the work ethic, volunteerism and dedication of the men and women of the 512th Memorial Affairs Squadron; they are always ready, willing and able to step up whenever called upon to support our war time as well as our peace time missions at a moment's notice," said Lt. Col. John Hayes Jr., 512th MAS commander. "We are extremely honored and humbled to receive this recognition."

"This unit has won so many awards, that its level of accomplishment has become almost expected," said Sergeant Hernandez. "In short, these men and women exemplify a dynamic team that is capable of tackling any challenge, anytime anywhere."
