Dover Air Force Base is accepting donations for baked goods from all interested individuals for this year's Operation Cookie Drop.

Cookies, brownies and other goodies can be dropped off at the Base Theater Dec. 21 from 6:30 - 9 a.m.

Operation Cookie Drop is an annual event sponsored by the Dover Chief Group, as a way to spread holiday cheer to Dover Airmen residing in the dormitories, said Chief Master Sgt. Cassandra Crawford-Bice, 436th Mission Support Group superintendent and coordinator for the event.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to provide our dorm residents with a little touch of home," said Chief Crawford-Bice. "Any amount would be wonderful, and we're expecting to give Airmen two dozen or more treats this year."

Donations such as rice cereal treats, fudge, frosted cookies and cakes are welcomed. Special wrapping is not required, but treats need to be placed in transportable, disposable containers or sandwich bags.

"It was a really nice surprise when I came home from work to find cookies on my dresser last year," said Airman 1st Class Tracey Wootton, 436th Comptroller Squadron finance technician. "It was a great early Christmas present. It was nice to know people remembered the Dorm Airmen during the holiday and they cared about us."

"Operation Cookie Drop is one way to let our Airmen know we appreciate what they do each and every day," said Chief Crawford-Bice, who has helped with Operation Cookie Drops at other bases. She says volunteers who donate are the key to the success of the program.

"During a time when many are able to spend this season with friends and family, we have not forgotten those who can't during this holiday," said Chief Crawford-Bice.

"As their extended Air Force family, we are thinking of them as they make the sacrifice in being apart from their family," she said.
