The first floor of Eagle's Rest Inn is getting remodeled as the first phase of a three part plan to renovate the facility.

There are two types of remodels that Lodging can undertake. The first is a decor remodel, which can occur once every seven years. A decor remodel changes the upholstered furniture, the bedding, carpet, drapes and electronic equipment in a room. The second remodel is a full room remodel, which also includes the lighting, wall coverings, cabinets, furnishings and art in the room.

"Building 801 is undergoing a decor remodel," said Rauchelle Watson, 436th Force Support Squadron Lodging general manager. "We knew the remodel was coming, so we had time to plan it out. We moved our long term guests over to Building 800, and Building 801 is still hosting our space available stays as we are working in phases so we can continue to serve our customers. Building 801 will be open again at full capacity sometime in May."

The old furniture that is being removed from the Lodging center will be recycled and redistributed by the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office to other bases. Some of the furniture will be remaining at Dover Air Force Base to be utilized in the library. Lodging will replace all its old electronic equipment in the rooms with new DVD players and 32 inch LCD televisions.

"It's been a really smooth transition," said Mrs. Watson. "We can't wait until it is finished so we can show everyone our beautiful new rooms."
