As of April 1, an updated Air Force lodging policy has the potential to put a dent in a reservist's pocket book.

The former lodging policy did not financially penalize the servicemembers for not making their unit training assembly lodging reservations in advance.

Reservists need to make reservations in advance or risk paying out- of-pocket for last-minute reservations, said Senior Master Sgt. Raenita Monroe, 512th Airlift Wing lodging point-of-contact representative.

During the summer months, reservists who make last-minute reservations could end up paying more than $200 per night, said Amanda Young, 512th Memorial Affairs Squadron, lodging office assistant.

"If a servicemember does not follow the new guidelines, they can be subject to administrative action," said Sergeant Monroe.

For the first offense, reservists can receive verbal counseling. A second violation within six months can get reservists a letter of counseling. And, a third infraction within 12 months may result in the loss of UTA lodging privileges, said Sergeant Monroe.

512th AW members are recommended to make UTA lodging reservations through the automated system a year in advance, said Sergeant Monroe.

To make lodging reservations through the Automated Lodging Reservation System, call (866) 677-7098 or (302) 677-2432.
