Liberty Wing activated reservists and civilian employees have the potential to earn up to $10,000 if they have a winning idea on how to improve fuel, energy and environmental conservation.

As part of the Innovative Development through Employee Awareness program, Air Mobility Command is conducting a Fuel, Energy, and Environment campaign here until July 31.

The IDEA program encourages innovative, creative thinking by both military and Department of Defense civilian personnel. The program is designed to recognize and reward individuals whose suggestions improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations within the Air Force, DoD and federal government.

The goal of the FEE campaign is to see how many AMC bases can produce winning conservation ideas. Energy availability and management is critical to Air Force operational readiness and the Air Force has developed focused measures to reduce resource consumption and waste generation.

In addition to the possibility of earning a cash award, active-duty members, activated reservists and civil service employees who submit ideas for the FEE campaign will receive a gift made out of 100 percent recycled material, said Donna Lamos, 436th Force Support Squadron IDEA program analyst.

The program is looking for initiatives in aviation and ground fuel efficiencies, facility energy conservation, renewable energy sources, water conservation measures, cultural change and related awareness campaigns.

"With all the years of corporate knowledge in our wing, I am sure our members have some outstanding suggestions to promote energy conservation and save much-needed resources," said 512th Airlift Wing Executive Officer Capt. Crystal Beach, who is also wing's IDEA program point of contact. Wing Airmen who would like more information, can contact Captain Beach at (302) 677-5124.

Another option to submit an IDEA for the FEE campaign is to log into the Air Force Portal and click on the IDEA link, or call the Dover Air Force Base manpower office at (302) 677-6591, said Ms. Lamos.

"Once they submit it, we will work with it from there," said Ms. Lamos.

While the program's focus is on conservation of fuel, energy and the environment, it also reduces the cost of Air Force projects by going green. Normally, energy conservation month is in November, but the program was slated for July in the hopes that members would submit ideas they have now.
