AFRC achieves recruiting goal for 10 consecutive years Published Sept. 21, 2010 By Senior Airman Andria J. Allmond 512th AW Public Affairs DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service boasted 10, 500 enlistments for this fiscal year, Sept. 14, 2010. The 512th Airlift Wing recruiters were part of the equation in creating the successful recruitment numbers. The Liberty Wing recruiters were given the goal of 232 enlistees for the fiscal year. Attaining 317 future Airmen, they surpassed their goal by 137 percent. Also, the reservists scored as the number one detachment within their eleven-detachment recruiting squadron, which includes the Northeastern region of the country. "We are able to meet and surpass our goals because command has opened up some of the overage positions, as well as having recruiters continuously engage those who are part of the delayed enlistment program," said Master Sgt. Jeffrey S. Foust, a recruiter here who exceeded his goal by 169 percent. The most ambitious target in the last 10 years, the 10,500th enlistment sets the command on track for posting its highest number of enlistees in more than 15 years. With the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, they still have time to do so. "I'm incredibly impressed, amazed and proud of the work our team has done this year," said Col. Joe Wilburn, commander of Air Force Reserve Recruiting Service. "People who are the best at what they do make whatever it is they're doing look easy, even when it's extremely difficult. I feel the same way about these recruiters. They made a really tough job look easy. They're amazing." But, this accomplishment does not mean the Reserve recruiters can relax. The command is already preparing its goal for fiscal year 2011 with the number slated for release before Oct. 1. "I project our goal will be even higher for the next fiscal year," said Sergeant Foust. "But, we're more than confident we'll achieve it. Sometimes it's difficult because the time between enlisting and leaving for basic training is now between eight and 10 months, it can be hard to keep the recruits motivated up until they actually go to (basic military training). But, we'll meet our goal again; the Air Force Reserve is still hiring, we still need people."
