Team Dover welcomes new commander

Col. Mark Camerer assumed command of the 436th Airlift Wing from Col. Manson Morris during a change of command ceremony at Dover Air Force Base, Del., Jan. 27, 2011.

Colonel Morris has been appointed as the Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics at the Pentagon. Officiating the ceremony was Lt. General Robert Allardice, 18th Air Force commander.

Colonel Camerer comes to Dover Air Force Base after serving as the vice commander, 3rd Wing, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. He is a command pilot with more than 3,500 total flight hours and more than 250 combat flight hours in the C-17A and KC-135A/R/Q aircraft.

Colonel Camerer has participated in numerous operations and contingencies including Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Nobel Eagle, Verdi Dragon, Anaconda, Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Deny Flight, Allied Force and Restore Hope.

Addressing his new Airmen for the first time, Col. Camerer expressed his gratitude to serve as the commander of the 436 AW. "...to the members of the 436th Airlift Wing...thank you for everything you have already done to welcome Julie and I to Dover...I am impressed, I am in awe."

The new wing commander went on to say that "since its inception, the men and women of the 436th Airlift Wing have answered the call of many emergencies, emergencies that we all wished would have never arrived. You have a distinguished heritage and I am honored to be you commander," said Colonel Camerer. "... each of you possesses the integrity, the spirit of service and the excellence that is required to Deliver."
