Participants of the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Color Run kick off the event by throwing color powder into the air June 5, 2019, at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware.

The annual run is hosted by the Dover AFB Sexual Assault Prevention and Response team. The run is normally held in April but was postponed due to bad weather.

Volunteers waited at several stations along the course to cover the passing runners in bright color powder. Each color has a special meaning. Blue for Mental Health and Family Advocacy; Green for Green Dot; Teal for 24/7 SAPR Victim Advocacy; Red for Chaplain Corps; Yellow for Leadership; Orange for Special Victims Counsel. The mixture of cornstarch, baking soda and dyes is safe and environmentally friendly

The purpose of the run was to raise awareness of sexual assault and to reinforce the motto, “protecting our people protects our mission.”
