POW/MIA Col. Kelly F. Cook

Framed left is the University of Notre Dame yearbook photo of Kelly F. Cook, who had several pieces of literary work published while attending the Indiana college, including two pieces of poetry (upright center), which can be found in the home of his daughter Maureen, the wife of Col. Raymond A. Kozak, the 512th Airlift Wing commander at Dover Air Force Base, Del. One semester shy of graduating UND, Cook joined the Army Air Corps (photo on right) and wrote about his experiences as a bomber pilot during World War II (photo on left). Cook was later declared missing in action, and peers from the Air Force Academy compiled and published his stories in a book released in 1992. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Mercedes Crossland)
