A U.S. flag is placed over a casket during a dry run of procedures for the dignified transfer of remains shipping process at the Charles C. Carson Center for Mortuary Affairs here March 31. The Charles C. Carson Center is the Defense Department’s largest joint-service mortuary facility and the only one in the continental United States. The 512th Memorial Affairs Squadron is one of two Air Force Reserve Command units charged with the mission of preparing America’s fallen for their journey home.
