Supportive Employers

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- From right to left: Army Maj. Gen. Frank Vavala, Adjutant General of Delaware, Col. Sam Cox, 436th Airlift Wing commander, Col. Ronald A. Rutland, 512th Airlift Wing commander, Robert Mooney, mayor of Camden, and John Friedman, owner of Pathways Programs, signed a Statement of Support pledging their support of their employees who are members of the National Guard and Reserve. The signing occurred at the Military Affaire Nov. 14 at the Landings Club, Dover Air Force Base, Del., in front of more than 175 base and community leaders. Delaware's Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve committee sponsored the Statement of Support signing, which is designed to recognize employers for their policies and practices that are supportive of their employees' participation in the National Guard and Reserve. ESGR was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment.
