C-17 delivery scheduled for June
DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- Dover Air Force Base's first C-17 Globemaster III, scheduled to arrive here June 4, rolled out of the paint hangar in Long Beach, Calif., April 18 with its new Dover tail flash. It's now being prepared for its first flight in early May. The C-17 is the first of 13 aircraft the base is scheduled to receive over the course of two years. The base will keep 18 of its original 36 C-5s. The wing's 326th Airlift Squadron will take on the C-17 mission. Their sister squadron, the 709th Airlift Squadron, will continue to fly the C-5.
