Gift of Life
Staff Sgt. Pedro Consuegra, 512th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, is one of 45 reservists who participated in a bone marrow registry drive Oct. 13. The sign-up process consisted of two parts, which included signing a consent form and a cotton swab on the inside of the cheek. The collected information will become part of the C.W. Bill Young Department of Defense Marrow Donor Program. According to the organization's website, the military is the nation's largest source of whole blood donations, and military personnel, more so than any other large organzation, are able to meet the program's strict health and age requirements. In all, Team Dover had 133 people who showed their support for the program. The next drive is slated for the spring. (U.S. Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Veronica A. Aceveda)
