Master Sgt. John Witzke, a reservist with the 709th Airlift Squadron, instructs a crowd of about 250 512th Airlift Wing members on the proper use of a litter in preparation for an Operational Readiness Inspection in December. In addition to being a flight engineer, Sergeant Witzke is a military Self Aid and Buddy Care instructor and an emergency medical technician in his civilian capacity. His employer, Kent County Levy Court was one of 30 finalists to contend for the 2011 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The Freedom Award is the Department of Defense's highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve. The 30 finalists were selected from 4,049 nominations received earlier this year. (U.S. Air Force photo by Capt. Marnee A.C. Losurdo)
