Combined Federal Campaign underway in Liberty Wing

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. --  The Chesapeake Bay Area Combined Federal Campaign for the 512th Airlift Wing here runs to Dec. 15.

The CFC is one of two Air Force-sponsored fundraisers service members can donate to on an annual basis. The CFC catalog, available online, compiles more than 1,000 local, national and international charities, each with a unique cause. Former President John F. Kennedy issued an executive order in 1961 that established the CFC as a way for charities to solicit funds from federal employees.

There is no minimum donation, and personnel can donate to as many charities as they wish. Personnel can use the charity search tool to view the available charities online at www.cfcnexus.org.

"Our location categorizes us under the Chesapeake Bay Area region for CFC," said Capt. Jason Lowrey, the wing's project lead for the CFC. "Wing members' donations still go toward the charities they choose, whether they're local, national or international."

The preferred donation method is online using debit or credit cards. Airmen can contribute by cash or check to their respective group POC. Civilians and Air Reserve Technicians can opt for payroll deductions; however, traditional reservists cannot.

"As a reminder, there only two (unit training assemblies) to reach out to our TRs," added Lowrey. "And, all CFC contributions are tax deductible."
