Personal & Family Readiness

Assistance and support provided to families during times of local or national emergency, mobilizations, deployment, or evacuation.
 
To alleviate stress and anxiety by educating and providing tools and resource materials to service members and their families prior to their deployment.
 
Ensures families are informed of services available and maintains contact with the family during a deployment. Provides opportunities for social networking through planned events for families of deployed.
 
Prepares families to have realistic expectations upon the members return. Also coordinates with various base/community agencies to provide an overview of services and reintegration support.
 
Volunteers who provide routine support to families of deployed service members.
 
Allows family members to stay in touch with deployed members through two free 15-minute phone calls per week.
 
A&FR will print an appropriate photo of your choosing onto a pillow case, free of charge. Just e-mail a .jpg image to Latasha.lindsey@us.af.mil or frank.russo@us.af.mil with your contact information. Once it is complete, you will be able to stop A&FR to pick it up. Please allow three to five duty days for production.
 
A stress management initiative designed to allow military families a break. This program provides free child care at the Child Development Center for 4 hours once a month. Dates and time vary but typically alternate between a Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. one month and 6 to 10 p.m., the next month. Obtain a certificate at A&FR (Bldg 846) or call 302-677-3566 or 302-677-6930 for more information. The certificate and a copy of your child's shot record needs to be dropped off to the Child Development Center (Bldg 212) by 4 p.m. the Wednesday prior to the event. Sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society.
 
Focus on goals to educate, support and lessen the anxiety of the students who have parents who are TDY or deployed. Partnership with Dover Air Force Base Middle School.

Personal / Family Life Skills

Provides a wide range of prevention and enrichment services designed to strengthen the resilience of individuals and families. Programs offered will assist families in meeting the challenges throughout the various stages of the family life cycle. Classes offered in conjunction with other base agencies.

Military & Family Life Counselor

Military & Family Life Consultants provide free short term, situational, solution-based counseling services to service members and their families. MFLC services augment existing military support services. All consultants are Masters or PhD level, licensed clinical counselors. They work with families, individuals, couples and children to provide non-medical  counseling services. They also offer training and relationship building courses. Military OneSource

Military OneSource is a confidential Department of Defense-funded program providing comprehensive information on every aspect of military life at no cost to active duty, National Guard and reserve members and their families.

Information includes, but is not limited to, deployment, reunion, relationships, grief, spouse employment and education, parenting and childhood services. It is a virtual extension to installation services.

 

Military OneSource also provides confidential counseling. Confidential services, including non-medical counseling and specialty consultations, are available to eligible individuals at no cost, including:

Key Spouse Program

The Key Spouse Program is the Commander's tool for helping ensure the readiness of our families in preparing for and coping with the demands of deployment.
 
To ensure the well being of family and friends of deployed reservists by providing information, communication and resources.
 
The Key Spouse Program is a partnership between the commander(s), Airman & Family Readiness, and the Key Spouse volunteer. Commanders empower the volunteers to assist with providing information, communication and resources to the family members. Airman & Family Readiness provides oversight for stability, support and training. The Key Spouse volunteers inform, support, and refer family members to needed base agencies. Together, the commander(s), Airman & Family Readiness and Key Spouse volunteers ensure the well-being of military families.

Financial Management

Education, information and financial counseling to help individuals and families maintain financial readiness. Topics include budgeting, debt management, investing and purchasing decisions. Programs provided as Lunch and Learn seminars include:
 
Making the decision for a better retirement and learn how to make it great through varied investment options.
 
Learn how to be in control of your debts instead of having your debts control you.
 
It's not the monthly budget that doesn't work, it's the daily expenditures. Learn new techniques to handle the cash, debit cards, credit cards and the loose change.
The 512th Airman & Family Readiness mission is to provide individuals, families and leadership with programs that promote self-sufficiency and enhance mission readiness, retention and adaptation to the Air Force way of life. They are the link between mission and family. Programs and services include: Information and referral, crisis assistance, leadership consultation, personal financial management, family life education, personal and family readiness, employment assistance, and transition and relocation programs.
